Changelog

2026-05-08#

  • If you lose internet mid-session, a full-screen offline notice now appears with the surfer animation — and the page reloads automatically when you reconnect

  • Fixed an issue where the app could show a generic browser error screen instead of the Caparica offline page when there was no internet connection

  • There's now an "Invite a friend" banner on the Connections page — tap it to copy your personal link or share it directly, and anyone who joins through it gets counted as your introduction

  • When you type @ in a comment, the autocomplete now opens immediately and shows the post author and other people already in the conversation first, before your other connections

  • @mentions now notify anyone in the conversation, not just your direct connections

  • Sharing the community now always uses your personal referral link, so you get credit wherever you share from

2026-05-07#

  • Improved mobile navigation: the bottom bar now has a Settings tab that opens the side menu, back buttons on key pages, and the feed remembers your last category filter
  • Profiles are now publicly viewable without signing in
  • Share any post or invite a neighbour — if someone joins through your link, your profile shows how many people you've introduced to Caparica

2026-05-06#

  • Several performance improvements to make the app feel faster: pages now show a skeleton preview while content loads, the bottom navigation bar highlights instantly on tap, and some pages load with less redundant work behind the scenes

  • When viewing photos on a post, you can now use left/right arrows (or your keyboard arrow keys) to browse between images without closing the viewer

  • Deleting a comment, post, or idea/bug now shows a confirmation dialog before removing it — no more accidental deletions

  • Signing in with email now works seamlessly across devices — submit your email on a computer, click the link on your phone, and the computer signs in automatically. Both devices end up logged in. The waiting screen shows a live indicator and lets you resend or change your email if needed.

2026-04-30#

  • When you visit someone else's profile, you can now see the people you both know — their avatars and names appear right on the profile as a quick trust signal

2026-04-29#

  • Improved mobile UI: navigation has moved to a bottom bar for easier one-handed use, the logo opens a full side menu, and sharing is now available on profiles and ideas/bugs pages

  • PWA improvements: you can now install the app on Android/Chrome with a contextual prompt, an offline page is shown when there's no connection, the app auto-updates silently in the background, and the icons have been refreshed

2026-04-28#

  • The app now feels more native on mobile — push notifications deep-link to the right page, the icon shows an unread badge, posts are shareable via the native share sheet, and long-pressing the home screen icon gives you quick shortcuts

  • Push notifications can now be managed directly from your profile under the Notifications tab — enable or disable at any time

  • You can now enable push notifications — get notified for contact requests, replies, mentions, and more even when the browser tab is closed

  • iPhone users are prompted to add the app to their Home Screen to unlock push notifications on iOS

  • Privacy policy updated to reflect push subscription data storage

  • Improved colours in dark mode — orange buttons and badges are now more readable, selected filters are clearly visible, and dropdown hover states are consistent with the rest of the app

  • You can now subscribe to notification interests — choose the categories and subcategories you care about and get notified (in-app and/or email) when new posts appear in those areas

  • Posts now have subcategories (e.g. Items → Furniture, Services → Cleaning) to make it easier to find exactly what you need

  • When posting a Need, you're automatically subscribed to be notified when a matching Offer appears — you can manage this in your profile under Notifications

  • The profile page now has two tabs: Profile settings and Notification preferences

  • The feed no longer shows a Gallery / List view toggle — the card gallery is now the only view, keeping the browsing experience simpler and less cluttered

2026-04-26#

  • Added a friendly 404 page with the wave animation for any URL that doesn't exist

2026-04-25#

  • Dark mode is here — the app now follows your system preference automatically, and you can toggle it manually with the sun/moon button in the header

  • The type ("I need" / "I offer") and category shown on a post now link back to the feed filtered to that type or category, so you can quickly browse similar posts

  • Post and ideas/bugs links are now human-readable URLs — for example /posts/tv-for-sale instead of a long ID — making them easier to share and understand at a glance

  • Old links with the previous long IDs still work and redirect automatically to the new URL

2026-04-24#

  • The Needs / Offers selector in the feed is now a proper tab bar — the active section is clearly highlighted and switching between them is straightforward

  • The "+ New Post" button now lives in the top header bar so it's always visible no matter where you are in the feed

  • @mentions now display as "@Name" links everywhere — in the post feed, your posts list, and the post detail page — instead of showing raw internal markup

2026-04-23#

  • Posts can now have an optional date — useful for events, trips, or anything time-bound

  • The feed can now be sorted by date (ascending) in addition to the default newest-first order

  • Post cards show the date with a small calendar icon when one is set

  • Admins can now send in-app announcement notifications to any or all users directly from the admin panel — no email required

  • When an announcement notification arrives, clicking it takes you straight to the changelog

  • You can now mention your connections in posts and comments by typing @name — they'll get an email notification and see it in their notification feed

  • Post descriptions render @mentions as highlighted links so it's easy to see who was tagged

  • Comment authors and authors in the list view now link to their profile, making it easy to visit their page and contact them

  • Clicking a category on the home screen now shows what people are offering in that category, instead of what they need

2026-04-22#

  • A claudinho (the local Caparica pastry) now floats across the waves from right to left — hover over it to see what it is, click it to call in the surf school

  • Clicking the claudinho spawns chaotic beginner surfers onto the waves (up to 12 at once), and the pro surfer reacts with "Agosto chegou..." — double-click him to clear the lineup

  • The home page now has an animated wave strip just above the footer, visible when no category is selected — a subtle ocean feel while you browse what to post or look for

  • A stickman surfer rides the waves continuously, bobbing up and down with the swell

  • You can interact with the surfer: hover to make him wave back, click for a trick with a speech bubble, double-click to make him very upset (he threatens to move to Peniche)

  • The mobile menu now shows About, Changelog, Terms, and Privacy policy links at the bottom, visible to everyone whether logged in or not

  • About now appears first in the footer link row

  • Tightened the home page layout on mobile so all four category cards are visible without scrolling

  • The "Aloha!" greeting bubble on the smiley face no longer clips into the header

  • A short intro video explaining how the platform works now appears on every page as a small widget in the bottom-right corner — you can expand it, make it bigger, minimise it, or close it permanently

  • The intro video is also embedded at the top of the About page

  • On first visit, the video widget waits until you dismiss the welcome message before appearing

2026-04-21#

  • Improved analytics coverage: sign-in attempts and logouts are now tracked

  • The home page now greets you with a "Welcome" message and a short description of what the platform is before asking what you're looking for

  • Browsing now starts by picking a category (Items, Services, Accommodation, Events) — clicking one takes you straight to the needs feed for that category

  • Added a "Post an offer" button on the home screen for people who want to sell, lend, or give something away

  • The animated smiley face on the home page says hello in a different language every time you click it — click too fast and it gets a little annoyed

  • The logo and nav links now go back to the home screen instead of jumping straight into the feed

  • Fixed a bug where custom styles passed to buttons via links (LinkButton) weren't applying correctly

  • The Connections page now shows how many requests are waiting for your reply and how many you've received but haven't approved, each linking to the Requests page

  • A "Connections" link with an orange badge appears in the header when you have new connections to check

  • Improved contrast on toggle switches, dropdown menus, and select dropdowns — active and hover states now use blue instead of the low-contrast mint green

  • Admins can now send emails directly to users from an admin panel

  • Removed the "Missing a category? Suggest one" prompt from the post feed filters

  • Email notifications for contact requests and approvals now deliver reliably using the platform's own domain

2026-04-15#

  • Fixed an issue where deleting a comment or a post would fail silently due to a database permission conflict

  • Post owner no longer sees the +1 subscribe button on their own posts

  • Buttons that trigger actions (delete, approve, reject, logout, comment) now show a loading state and disable themselves while the action is in progress, so you can't accidentally trigger them twice

  • Removing an image during upload now shows a spinner on that image while it's being deleted

  • Post cards now show a comment bubble icon when a post has comments, so you can tell at a glance if a conversation is already happening

  • You can now hit +1 directly from the feed to show interest in a need, without opening the post — hover it to see what it does

  • The "Contact" button on a post now opens a single dialog where you can choose to contact the post owner or reach out to everyone who showed interest, instead of having two separate buttons

  • Comments and showing interest (+1) are now mentioned in the About page and Privacy Policy

2026-04-14#

  • Post images now show as a gallery with thumbnails — click a thumbnail to switch the main image, and click the main image to view it full screen
  • Category is now required when creating or editing a post, and it's asked right after the type so it's easier to fill in

2026-04-11#

  • You can now send a connection request directly from someone's profile page, without needing to go through one of their posts

  • Each user now has a public profile page — visit it to see their name, description, and contact info if you're already connected

  • You can add a short description to your profile that others will see when they visit your page

  • Author names and avatars on posts and the connections list are now clickable links to that person's profile

  • You now get notified when someone sends you a contact request, when your own request gets approved, and when someone votes on your idea or bug report

  • A bell icon in the header shows your total unread count and opens an inbox with your notification history — opening it marks everything as read

  • The Requests, Connections, and Ideas & Bugs menu items each show their own unread badge so you can see at a glance what needs attention

2026-04-08#

  • A badge now shows how many contact requests are waiting for your response — visible on the avatar icon and the Requests link in the menu. It updates in real time as requests come in or get resolved

  • Image delete and "set as main" controls are now always visible when uploading photos, so they work properly on mobile too

  • Actions like approving a request, deleting a post, or publishing now show a confirmation or error message so you always know what happened

  • Admins can now delete any post directly from its page, not just their own

2026-04-04#

  • On the home feed you can switch between cards and a table to scan more posts at once; it still follows needs or offers and your category filter, and you can bookmark or share a link with table view on

  • The privacy policy explains that when you’re signed in, our analytics may receive your email address so we can recognise your visits in our statistics

  • The site logo and Feed in the menu open the needs feed right away, so you can skip the big “choose what to explore” step when you already know the board

2026-04-03#

  • On Ideas & Bugs, tap a title to open that item’s page; if you submitted it, you can change or remove it there

  • The list can show only your ideas and bugs, and your cards include Edit and Delete (same idea as My Posts); Edit opens the item ready to change

  • After you send a new idea or bug, you return to the list instead of staying on a thank-you screen

  • If you’re not logged in and tap vote on an idea or bug, a short message says you need to sign in

  • On the home screen, the “what do you want to explore” block sits a little higher on narrow phones

  • The home screen nudges you to pick what to explore on the board, and the two big choices are labeled Needs and Offers so it’s clearer you’re opening the feed

  • On the narrowest phones, the footer uses slightly smaller text so the links don’t feel cramped

  • On Ideas & Bugs, choosing All / Bug / Feature uses the same chip-style controls as elsewhere instead of a dropdown

  • On the feed, “Suggest a category” sits on the same line as the category chips when there’s room, so the filters stay more compact

  • The old Feedback area is now Ideas & Bugs — same purpose with a clearer name and its own section in the site

  • You can suggest a new post category from the feed or when writing a post; we review suggestions before they appear in the list, and you get a short on-screen confirmation when yours is sent

  • Links you share (to the site or to a single post) now show a proper preview in apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and X — title, short description, and image

  • If a post includes photos, the shared preview uses the first photo

  • Clicking "New Post" from the feed now pre-selects the post type (need or offer) you were browsing

  • All buttons now show a pointer cursor on hover

  • Brand colors applied consistently across buttons, badges, switches, and filters

  • A welcome modal greets first-time visitors with a quick intro to the platform

  • My Posts, Requests, Connections, Profile and Logout are now grouped under your avatar in the navigation bar

  • About page moved to the footer alongside Feedback, Changelog, Terms and Privacy

  • Footer links reorganized into clearer groups

  • Added an About page explaining what Caparica Community is, why it exists, and how it works — accessible from the navigation bar

2026-04-01#

  • Clicking filters or navigating between pages now shows visual loading feedback so you know the page is updating
  • A thin progress bar appears at the top of the page during any navigation
  • Feedback form moved to its own dedicated page with a "New Feedback" button
  • Card and badge styling improved across the platform

2026-03-31#

  • Feed buttons are now responsive and better sized for mobile screens

  • "I offer" icon updated to a megaphone for better visual balance

  • Feed page redesigned: big "I need" and "I offer" buttons greet you on arrival — pick one to see posts

  • Brand colors added across the platform (blue and orange)

  • Category filter now shows as tappable badges instead of a dropdown

  • Post cards no longer overflow on small screens

  • Approved contact emails now include a link to your Connections page

  • Post type filter now uses toggle buttons instead of a dropdown for quicker filtering
